The Importance of Being Milspo

The Importance of Being Milspo

I recently visiting Amazon HQ in London for Milspo Live. Those of you that know will know that visiting anywhere takes quite a lot of effort, so I reserve my trips to London for very special occasions!

Milspo, or to give its full title, The Milspo Business Network CIC, is run by the inimitable Jess Sands and aims to support military "spouses, partners and other halves" that run their own business. Jess, a graphic designer, set it up after discovering running her own business from a married quarter could get quite lonely. Add into that regular moves and partner's deployments and its easy to see why such a support network was so needed.

So, back to London. Amazon UK, in form of Emma Morgan, is very supportive of the military community and invited Milspo to come* to its HQ, in Shoreditch, for a day of talks and networking.

We had a talk from Jess about the importance of us(!), a session on mindset from Jamie of YourNorth, other workshop and, most importantly, a chance to meet other Milspos running their own business.

It was a brilliant day and, if you are a Milspo and you run your own business I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

You can find out more at https://milspo.co.uk and request to join the facebook group here https://www.facebook.com/groups/MILSPO/.

*It was on last year as well, but wasn't well enough to go, so I was doubly determined to make it this year!
